First Intern at McConkey Completes the Program on August 24, 2007 August 24, 2007 - Sarah Davis was McConkey's first intern.  As a senior elementary education major at York College, Sarah was offered a summer internship opportunity at McConkey to learn more about the insurance industry. McConkey and Sarah were both taking a risk; this would be McConkey's first intern and this would be Sarah's first experience in a business setting.  Knowing the great reputation of the business and the people that worked there, she was eager to come aboard to learn more.  Sarah quickly became involved in the company doing everything from marketing projects for the Pennsylvania Builder's Association, attending client meetings with account executives, to attending insurance carrier hosted presentations, and in-house meetings and conferences.  The program proved to be a great success for both Sarah and the company, and they decided to continue the internship program.  Sarah was hired part time to work on developing the internship program more thoroughly and to help get the program accredited and established with local colleges. It is McConkey's goal to expose college students to this business to see if it is a fit for them.  The internship program is a hands-on opportunity for students to find out if this is an area of interest to them and to learn more about the role of this business within the community.
