McConkey Advertised in 1916 York Hospital Benefit Cookbook

January 19, 2010:  Recently an original cook book was found by the John Zimmerman family among the cookbook collection of his late wife, Kathryn, and realized its value to the York community.  Anstadt Printing did a beautiful job of re-printing, and it's now available to the public for $10/copy on the Wellspan website.  The book provides a snapshot of culinary life - and life in general - in pre-World War I York County.

 

 

The interesting thing we found about the book, is at the bottom of page 68 of the original, where we found an ad for McConkey in our early days.  McConkey was only 26 years old at the time, and were located on East Market Street in York.
