Kurt joined the McConkey team in April 2015 as a Business Insurance Executive. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, he majored in Finance and minored in Economics. He earned his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 2006 and is a member and past Board of Director of the PA Dutch Chapter of CPCU.
Kurt brought with him to McConkey extensive workers’ compensation experience from prior underwriting positions at Eastern Alliance and Highmark. He began his career at Eastern Alliance, where he gained valuable alternative markets experience, specifically working on several captive programs for which McConkey serves as Program Administrator, as well as traditional accounts of all sizes. Most recently he held a Marketing Underwriter position with Highmark, where he helped grow the workers’ compensation product by working closely with agents and insureds to custom tailor programs for individual clients.
Kurt now lives in Leola with his wife, Angie, and their two children. He is an active member of the Lancaster County Fire Chiefs Association and a volunteer in his community, where he served as Deputy Fire Chief of a local volunteer fire company. Kurt holds several national certifications, including Fire Officer, Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator, Plans Examiner, and Vehicle and Machinery Rescue Technician.
When he is not serving clients and the community, Kurt enjoys traveling and spending time with his friends and family.
