Norm joined McConkey in 1979 after working for a large national insurance company for several years. He now plays a vital role as one of the leaders of the McConkey team, focusing on improving efficiencies and quality of service through detailed analysis and a broad base knowledge of business and operational functions. Professionally, his strength lies in risk analysis for large companies. Through his careful analysis, Norm assures that the best risk funding mechanisms are designed and executed for each client.
Internally, Norm’s position engages him in operations and in keeping the McConkey culture positive. He believes our great people are the key to the agency’s successful future, and that we’re fortunate to have such a talented and wonderful group of employees.
Norm is a magna cum laude graduate of Clarion University and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. He has served on various insurance company agents’ councils, including regional and national High Performance Councils for CNA, Travelers and others. He has also served on the Independent Agents and Brokers Association of PA, MD and DE Board of Directors as Chairman.
Norm is an active community volunteer. He has served as a volunteer coach for youth sports, as a Sunday School teacher, and as an active member of his local Rotary Club. He and his wife are very active in their church as well. Norm lives in York with his wife, Tina. They have four college-graduate children outside the area that they visit when possible. In his free time, he enjoys golf, travel, reading, and watching movies.
