Kurt Gehman joined the McConkey team in 2015 as a Business Insurance Executive before becoming a Vice President/Principal of the agency. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned a degree in Finance with a minor in Economics. Kurt earned his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 2006 and is a member of the Central PA Chapter of CPCU, as well as a former Board Member of the PA Dutch Chapter.
Kurt is a subject matter expert in Workers’ Compensation and Group Captives, bringing deep technical knowledge and a strategic, consultative approach to client partnerships. He began his career in underwriting, where he supported several captive programs that McConkey now serves as Program Administrator. He later went on to underwrite a specialized workers’ compensation product designed for the unique needs of mid- to large-market businesses. Today, Kurt serves clients across a range of industries, including construction, equipment dealers, manufacturing, human services, auto dealers, and food & agriculture.
Kurt is actively involved in the community and serves on the Lancaster County Fire Chiefs Association, Upper Leacock Fire Company, and the Lancaster City Fire Foundation. He has volunteered in the Lancaster County fire service for more than 30 years.
He resides in the Leola area of Lancaster County with his wife, Angie, and their two children. Outside of work and community service, Kurt enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on Philadelphia sports teams.
